Classical Conditioning

Classical Conditioning is the first steps of learning - recognizing patterns. We find correlations and relationships between stimuli.

The most common example is Pavlov’s bell = food.

It’s simple pairing stimulus 1 predicts stimulus 2.

An appetitively conditioned stimulus predicts something the learner likes, wants, or enjoys. This conditions the stimulus as a desirable thing.

An aversively conditioned stimulus predicts something the learner dislikes or finds uncomfortable. This conditions the stimulus as something the learner wants to avoid.

Relationships with us or their peers are classically conditioned by what we are paired with.
